The ORB Internet Café is provided to give staff and volunteers both individualized and group instruction on using California 4-H’s Online Record Book System. The café is designed as a 3-hour workshop that combines presentation, hands-on practice and group discussion. Participants will need to bring a laptop or tablet with them to the café. The following topics will be covered:
- Overview of the Features & Functions in the Online Record Book (Record Book, Social Media,
- Evaluation)
- Navigating the forms in the Online Record Book (PDR, APR, 4-H Story)
- Project & Club Leader Functions and Approving Forms
- Maximizing your ORB experience—How to use ORB to be efficient and save time (Print Feature,
Expression Pages, Collection of 4-H Works etc.)
1) California State On-Line Record (ORB)
The guidebook is accessed through the link http://www.ca4h.org/files/123942.pdf.
Logging into the Online Record Book will not be covered at training. Before attending be sure you can log into the Online Record Book site.
Your family email address, used for 4-H enrollment in the 4honline system, is the same as the one you use for ORB access. After enrollment approval at the club and county level adults will use their 4hOnline password they used for enrollment to set a password for youth to access the record book system. If you don't know your password, the system will send you a new one.
Use your registration link at: http://california.4honline.com. Right at the second page of the log-in you can establish a youth password for record books which will give youth to access 4-H Online Record Books at http://www.ca4h.org/4hbook.
Please note that we are in process of completing enrollment and until we have "approved" your membership, you will not be able to use the 2012-13 record book. We will do our best to approve those who have registered before the workshops. If you have not been approved a number of “fake” accounts will be available for you to use at the training. This will allow you to test drive the whole system and practice using all of the features. If you have registered for an ORB workshop, and have followed all of the directions, but are still not able to log in, contact Valerie Williams at the Solano 4-H office for assistance, vawilliams@ucanr.edu or (707) 784-1319.
2) State Record Book Forms are linked at
http://www.ca4h.org/Resources/Members/RecordBook/RBResources/. The California State Record Book Manual is linked at http://www.ca4h.org/files/2738.pdf with an addendum to look at as well at http://www.ca4h.org/files/148308.docx. While these forms are easier to use in some ways they often require some reformatting to meet page requirements.
